photographer 5- Harold Edgerton

I have chosen Harold Edgerton as my 5th photographer as i like the way he is expresses the models movement through repetition of one part or object within the image. The repetition in his photograph almost gives an mystical feel to the image, maybe even supernatural as it creating something that is not seen in real life. In the majority of Harold Edgerton, the subject is in the center of the composition which i like as it sets a main focus in the photograph.

The composition of Harold Edgerton first image is a man standing in the center of the photograph and the movement of his arm is being shown.
Beside the models body are several arms which are repeated from  the center of the composition to the top of the composition. This is then showing the movement of the models arms. The repeated arms makes it look like the model has more than two arms which is then adding to the mystical and super natural feel of the photograph.The fact that the image is in black and white makes it simplistic and makes the focus on the model and the repeated part of the model.





The composition of Harold Edgerton second image is the movement of someone doing a flip in the air. Each individual movement is being shown which is allowing the audience to see the progression of the model doing the flip. I can see that the movements start off faded as as they progress they become much more sharp and clear. The model is in white which makes it stand out from the black background. This makes the model the main focus as well as the fact that it is in the center of the composition.







The composition of Harold Edgerton third image is a blurred figure with the repetition of tennis rackets around the subject. On the right hand side of the image there is the repetition of three tennis balls which then followed by several movements from the tennis rackets. The fact that the main subject is blurred for me shows that they are moving fast making it hard to make the subject sharp and clear. However all of the individual movements of the tennis rackets are clear and contrast the black background well making them appear sharp.
                                                     
The composition of Harold Edgerton forth image is a blurred figure in the center with a ring of golf club around the model showing the movement when hitting the gold ball. The fact that the golf clubs create a circle around the model make it more obvious that this is the main focus therefore it draws the audiences eye toward the model in the center. The golf clubs are quite faint however the audience is still able to see them as it is contrasted against the black background.




Influence
I was influenced by Harold Edgerton as i made me realize that you can show the movement of an object of model through repetition rather than just blurring. Also this way you are able to show individual movements which is an elements which i would like to try myself in my own photographs.

Summary
Overall i really like this photographer as he has made me look at movement images in a different way which is through repetition and also i like the way that he makes all of his photographs black and white so that the objects can contrast the background and stand out even if they are not very sharp and clear.

Photographer 4 - Chen Man

Chen Man

I have chosen this photographer as i like the way she captures colour within her fashion photography.Her work has revolutionized the way China and the rest of the world thinks about beauty.I Like the way in which all the women's skin appears flawless and slick and how she has shown beauty though bright and bold colours rather than be settle like other beauty photographs. Overall i like the way that she is bold and experimental with her photographs.

The composition of Chen Man's first image i have chosen is that there is a head shot of a women who has brightly colored make up on with almost purl looking skin. This makes the women skin appear flawless and sleek which a element of Chen Mans photographs. The models eye brows have been drawn on in dark black which make them standout from the white shiny skin. Colored patterns have been added to add to the elegance of the image and emphasize the beauty with in the photograph. 

The composition of Chen Man's second image i have chosen is that there is a shoulders up shot of a women with blue eye brows, yellow eyelids, pink under her eyes and red lips. All of the colors that are used standout from the matte looking white skin. The use of the bold within beauty and fashion photography is unusual however Chen Man uses the colors in an effective way and is still able to make the women appear flawless. The parts of her face that are in bold colors are the main features of the women's face and they are emphasize in positive way.

The composition of Chen Man's third image i have chosen is that there is a mid arm up of a women. All the element of the image are a sharp white colour or silver which make the image almost appear cold and that the women could be make of ice. All of the women features are highlighted by the use of a darker color such as on her cheek bones. This image is different from the other image as this one does not use any bright colours however it still carries on the idea of the women looking flawless and sleek.

The composition of Chen Man's forth image i have chosen is that there is a shoulders up shot of a young girl who has shuttle make up almost none at all. The fact that her hair is sleek back and her fringe in sleek on to forehead is portraying the flawless that Chen Man aims for. Her cheeks appear to have some blusher on which emphasizing the feature of her face which similar in the third image by Chen man.

Influence

This photographer has influenced me in a way in which i would like to experiment with making the model appear flawless maybe through soft focus. Also Chen Man's use of bright colours has made me realize that you can highlight specific parts of the face with different colours to make them stand out from the rest of the composition.

Summary

Overall i like this photographer as they have simply taken portrays of the model and then made the important elements of the face standout by using bright colours which possible could clash however Chen Man has made them compliment each other and portray the model in a positive way.

Photographer 3- Franco Fontana

Franco Fontana

I have chosen Franco Fontana as one of my photographers to evaluate as I like the way he takes photographs of nature and landscapes and then emphasises the dull colour which are associated with nature and makes them all  bright and vibrant by using colours such as yellow, bright green and bright blue. This gives different twist to any other nature and landscape image as they are usually always green and fairly dull, this is what made Franco Fontana’s work stand out for me.

The composition of this Franco Fontana's first image is that there is a ordinary tree placed in the centre of a brightly coloured image with the sky bright blue and the grass and meadows being bright yellow and green. These bright colours almost make the tree out of focus as the colours are so bright they are the main focus. This is unusual as the object in an image is usually the main focus however Franco Fontana is more focused to the effect of the colour. I like the aspect of the bold colours as it easily established the different between the sky, the grass and the meadows due to the colours contrasting.

The composition of this Franco Fontana's second image is that there is a large amount of dull, dark green grass but then in the centre of the grass there are two patches which are bright yellow and red. This therefore contrasts against the dull green and they are much brighter. Also there is a white tree which is set between the two patches of yellow and red. This draws the attention to the tree as well as the colours as it is in the centre of the image therefore it is at central focus for the audience. As the tree is white it is easily able to stand out from the bright colours ever though white would be classed a dull colour.

The composition of this Franco Fontana's third image is that it is of an urban landscape which looks fairly new and modern.  The building is mainly grey, black and rather dull. This is then contrasted by two parts of the building which is brightly coloured. The two colours that are used are red and yellow and are both placed next to each other. This makes the main focus of the image the bright coloured section as they stand out from the rest of the building which is grey and black. This image is different from Franco Fontana’s other images as they are based on natural landscapes rather than urban however they both still use specific colours to have a central focus for the audience.

The composition of this Franco Fontana's forth image is that it is of a natural landscape which contains different shaded and tones of the same colour which allows the audience to separate the different parts of the landscape. This image doesn’t contain bright colours like Franco Fontana’s other photographer however the photograph still establishes the different elements within the landscape. There is tree in this image which is contrasting against the light green section of the landscape which enables the tree to stand out as it is fairly dark. The landscape in this photograph almost looks like it is getting higher due to the angle that it has been taken at.

Influence
This photographer has influenced me in a way in which i would like to create a twist on landscape images by adding colours you wouldn't necessarily associate with nature and maybe even use different shades of the same colour to separate the different aspects of the landscape itself.

Summary
Overall i like this photographer as i have never seen landscape images like this before as they are original and different to any other as he has completely ignored the traditional colours associated with nature and create a positive feel to the images. I feel like he portraying nature in a positive to empathize the importance of nature.

photographer 2- Corrine Vionnet

I have chosen Corrine Vionnet as I like the way she creates blurred photographs of famous tourist attraction. These images are different as it has hundreds of the same photographs placed on top of each other. I feel that her images signify memories which people have made as well as showing the movement of the thousand of people who have visited these famous attraction all over the world. Lastly i chose Corrine Vionnet as she shows blurring in a different way which is all about layers of images.

The composition of image one is Big Ben seen form across the river, the building looks blurred with the different layers of the image. This almost gives the impression of mountains in the distance. From the layers of images it starts to create ghostly figures in the foreground. The colours that have been used are browns, creams and pale blues. This gives the effect of the images looking frozen in time. The purpose of this image is to make you look closely and see dim shadows, vague silhouettes that aimlessly wander around. More than anything, the haunting figures make us think about our own fading memories and the passage of time. We always take the same photographs because the photograph proves our presence and make it become a memory.

The composition of image two is the Eifel Tower in the centre of the photograph. Faintly you can see the blur of the people how have been built up in the making of the photograph, this almost makes the bottom of the image just become a dark blur which represents all the people have been at this famous attraction. The fact that the Eifel Tower is in line as does not blur represents that it has been unchanged whereas the people attending the attraction are always changing.

The composition of image Three is a famous temple which is the centre of the photograph to show its importance. The main temple building is not blurred showing that it has been unchanged however there are pillars on each side of the temple which are slightly fainter than the actual temple suggesting that they may be new or no longer there. On either side of the image there are mass amount of blur to represent the people who are their which suggests this is a very popular place to visit.

Lastly the composition of the forth image is again a famous attraction which is rounded and takes up most of the photograph. A quarter of the Building is fainter than the rest which may suggest that it is in the middle of being built or has been damaged due to how old it is. Similar to the other photographs there is a dark blur at the bottom of the image which is representing the mass amount of people who have attended this attraction.

This photographer has influenced me in a way in which i have started to experiment with moving the camera to show movement rather than the actual object moving. This way i would be able to make something look like they are moving when they really now, this is better as i was restricted in my movement image as i was only able to move certain objects. 

Summary
Overall i like this photographer as they show a different way of showing movement as well as creating a mysterious atmosphere in the photograph by the ghostly looking figures.Also it is a way of showing all the different people that have created memories in these famous landmarks. 

photographer 1- Solve Sundbo

I have chosen Solve Sundbo because I like the way he projects the patterns on to the person which makes it different from any other pattern photograph. I feel this a alternative way of showing man made patterns as it is much more creative and individual compared to other patterns. Lastly i like the aspect that they patterns also highlight specific features of the model such as their lips which are always brightly colors.

In image one it is a close up of a woman with white pale skim and large projected circles are on her face, arms and hair. The circles are more visible on her skins than her hair as the paleness of her skin makes the circles sharp and standout in the photograph. One of the circles is around her mouth which may be to focus the audience at her lips which are blue in this case. This is effective as the whole photograph is in black and white except from her lips which may be to highlight a significant feature.

In image two it is a medium close up of a woman pouting. This photograph is different from image one as the circles are black shadows whereas before they was hollow circles which allowed the audience to see model. In this image the black circles over up some parts of the woman’s skin which may be highlighting that she has something to hide maybe. The woman is wearing bright red lip stick in this photograph which standouts from the pale skin, the fact that she is pouting may be suggesting that her lips are significant in the photograph.

In the third image the woman has thin lines projected on to her skin; this can either represent pattern or lines as it is effective in both ways in this photograph. As all of the lines are thin but there is a mass amount of them, this almost covers the whole of the woman body which may be suggesting that she is not allowed to show her body and that she is hiding behind the lines. The lines could represent prison bars which could imply that the woman is tapped behind bars.

Lastly in the fourth image the same technique has been used however smalls shadowed circles have been projected however there are more which still covers a fair amount of the woman body. Due to the women’s body being pale and then having a continuous pattern projected one it her features almost disappear making her look more like an object than a human being.  Similar to the other photographs the woman has bright pink lips which standout from her pale skin giving the image a focal point.


Influence  This photographer has influenced me in a way in which i want to try to use form and pattern at the same time to create a interesting image. When taking my own photographs as i am more aware of how to make certain aspects standout like this photographer does by using black shadows against white pale skin. 

Summary
Overall i really like this photographer as they change the composition of the image however keep the same pale skinned model to make the pattern shadow stand out. I also like the element of the bright lips which is continuos throughout all of this photographers series of image.
