Shape Work Dairy

Shape Work Dairy

In this lesson i made an image bank on shape which showed images that i found interesting that showed shape and then annotated them. When i went out out to shoot shape i found it fairly easy as everything is a shape from a window to a building.

One way of showing shape is through shadows like i have in my photograph. I feel this image was successful as it showed shape in a different way like a silhouette.

In my second image, it is more of a simple approach to showing shape as it is simply as circle. Although this image is very simple it still establishes shape within the photograph.

If i was to continue with shape i would try and find more interesting ways to show shape and take more images in the first shoot even if they are simple.

Blurring Work Dairy

Blurring Work Dairy

In this lesson i made an image bank on blurring which contained image that i found interesting which demonstrated blurring and then annotated them. Before i could go out and shoot blurring i have to change the shutter speed to a low number to get the blurring effect. I found blurring quite hard as sometime the whole object would turn into a blur which would not show any movement.

These are two of my photographs that i took to show blurring. In the first image i moved the camera which therefore was not as effect. This then made me realize  that i have to move the object like i did in my second image which had a better effect in showing movement in a photograph. This photograph also shows the speed of the movement due the long blurred lines coming from the shoes.

If i was to continue with blurring i would try and add more than one object in the image to make it more interesting for the audience.

Pattern Work Dairy

Pattern Work Dairy

In this lesson i made an image bank on pattern and annotated them saying whether they was man-made or natural patterns. I also said how they where effective and how the pattern was created.  When i went out to shoot pattern i found it hard to find a continuos pattern with natural elements therefore i found more patterns within man-made elements.

Both of these photographs are an example of what i took for pattern in photography, They are both man made patterns as i found it hard to find natural patterns within the area i was in. These are both simple patterns as they only have one aspect which in this cake is the diagonal dashes and the straight squares. My second image could have been more focused on the pattern as there is other things in the image.

If i was to continue to shoot pattern i would try and find more natural patterns and also avoid having any other object in the photograph such as leafs as this i feel ruins the pattern.

Line Work Dairy

Lines Work Diary

In this lesson i made an image bank on lines on photography. I found 6 images that i liked and annotated them. I then went out to shoot lines which i found easy as there are lines everywhere you just have to be creative about it. Things like walls, floors, radiators ect all show lines.

In my first image i feel was my best photograph as the whole image is focused on lines and also it has a aspect of depth which makes the lines to appear as if they are coming to a point the further away they   go from the camera.

This is not my best photograph as it is not totally focused on the lines. This is because you can see some of the background which may distract the audience from not focusing on the lines in the photograph.

If i was to continue with lines in photography i would try to find different types of lines such as curved rather than just straight. I feel this will make my photographs more interesting for the audience.

Colour Work Dairy

Colour Work Diary

In this lesson we did an image bank on colour showing examples of colour in photography and then annotating each image. When i went out to shoot colour i found it fairly easy as colour is everywhere. I found contrasting colours on walls and brightly coloured flowers which stand out from the leafs. I enjoyed taking photographs of colour as you can be creative with it by shooting certain colours to have a positive effect on the photograph.

Here are 2 of the photographs i took in this lesson:

In this first photograph that i took shows the vibrant orange berries standing out from the green leaves. i feel this was one of by best photographs as it represents colour within nature.

In this photograph i am showing colour in a simple way but shooting contrasting colours. This image has no central focus as it just contains 2 block colours of white and green.

If i was to continue with colour in photograph i would try and have as little elements in the photograph so that the image is focused on the colour rather than the elements in it.

10/01/2014

In todays lesson i will follow photoshop tutorials to explore the different ways of editing my photographs.

In this lesson i did some more print techniques such as adding writing on the subjects face using photoshop and putting a photograph in to a text.
